Your 1st Installment Property Tax Bill

Cook County 1st installment property tax bills are mailed in January! These bills are due by March 1. Tax bills are payable in arrears so you are actually paying the previous year's property taxes. This bill reflects 55% of the previous year's taxes. Even if you appealed and reduced your assessed value, the assessment values ARE NOT UPDATED. Whether your property tax appeal decision has already been made or whether it is continuing through the decision making process, those numbers are NOT reflected on this 1st installment property tax bill. ASSESSMENT REDUCTIONS, LOCAL TAX RATE CHANGES AND HOMEOWNER'S EXEMPTIONS ARE (ALWAYS) REFLECTED ON YOUR 2nd INSTALLMENT PROPERTY TAX BILLS.

The Cook County Treasurer offers 2 online options to pay your property tax bill:

1) E-Check payments ($1.00 processing fee for each tax bill) which require checking or savings account and financial institution routing numbers or

2) credit or debit card payments (BEWARE: You will pay a third party 2.13% processing fee. If you already pay a large property tax bill, these additional fees can add up! Please feel free to email me at Lauren@easytaxappeals.com if you have any additional questions about your 1st Installment Property Tax Bill or how to appeal your 2016 property taxes.

PLEASE NOTE WHETHER THIS IS A REASSESSMENT YEAR FOR YOUR TOWNSHIP!
